Georgia is one of the most popular short trips from Dubai – mountains, wine country, Tbilisi's old town and the Black Sea coast in Batumi. For many UAE residents, it doesn't even need a visa.
Visa-free with a UAE residence permit
According to the Embassy of Georgia to the UAE, people who hold a visa or residence permit of the United Arab Emirates may enter and stay in Georgia without a visa for 90 days in any 180-day period, provided:
- the residence permit is valid on your entry and departure dates, and
- your passport has sufficient validity.
The 1-year rule for some nationalities
Nationals of certain countries – including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Morocco, Syria, Sudan, Somalia and Yemen, among others – can use their UAE residence for visa-free entry only if the residence permit is valid for at least 1 year on the day they cross the border. Otherwise, they need to apply for a tourist visa.
Tip: check your residence expiry date before booking. If it's less than 12 months away and you're on this list, apply for a visa or renew first.
Visa-free by nationality
Citizens of many countries (including GCC states, the EU, the UK and the US) can enter Georgia visa-free regardless of residence.
Georgia e-Visa
If you don't qualify for visa-free entry, you can usually apply for a Georgia e-Visa online, with a hotel booking, return ticket, insurance and bank statement.
